Beliefs

Doctrinal Statement
The Bible
-- I believe in the verbal, plenary, inspiration of the Bible. I believe it is inerrant and
infallible. (II Timothy 3:14-17; II Peter 1:20-21)
-- I believe in the preservation of scripture and that the Bible as we have it today is God's
    word. (Psalm 119:89; Matthew 5:18)
-- I believe that the complete Canon of Scripture contains 39 books of the Old
Testament and 27 books of the New Testament.
-- I believe that God preserved his Word through the Masoretic Text of the Old
Testament and the Textus Receptus of the New Testament.
-- I believe that God has preserved his word for English speaking people in the
King James Version of the Bible. And the King James Bible is inspired through
         preservation.
-- I believe the Bible should be interpreted literally, historically, and grammatically.
    (Ephesians 1:10; 3:2; Colossians 1:25-26)
-- I believe that the Bible contains everything a person needs to live his life to the glory of
God. (Psalm 119:105; Matthew 4:4; Hebrews 4:12; II Timothy 3:16-17)

God
-- I believe that there is one true God, who exists eternal in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit. (Matthew 28:19; John 14:26; II Corinthians 13:14)

The Virgin Birth
-- I believe that Christ was born of Mary, a virgin through the miraculous over-shadowing of the
Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ was both God and Man, perfect. (Matthew 1:18, 25 John 1:14)

Man
-- I believe that Adam was created in the image of God on the sixth literal day of creation.
God breathed into him the breath of life. (Genesis 1:26,27 2:7, 21-24)
-- He was created innocent (Genesis 2:25) but by the act of his own will he fell into sin
thus bringing the entire human race under condemnation and death so that now all
mankind is born in sin and are sinners by nature and practice. (Romans 3:23,24; 5:12-
    19)

Marriage
-- I believe that marriage is between one man and one woman. It is a vow between God
    and the couple that can only be terminated by the death of one spouse. (Matthew 19:3-6;
    I Corinthians 7:39)
-- The Bible gives no allowance for a divorced person to remarry or for one to marry a
divorced person. Divorce is not a reason to keep oneself from serving God. It does,
however, disqualify one from the offices of Pastor or Deacon. (Luke 16:18; Romans
    7:2,3)

Sin
-- I believe that sin is a departure from the path of duty given by God to man.(I John 3:4)
-- The Bible defines sin as: missing the mark, (Romans 3:9); iniquity, (Psalm 106:6);
transgressing against the law of God, (Job 31:33); lawlessness, (I Timothy 1:9); fault,
    (Galatians 6:1); disobedience, Romans 5:19).
-- I believe that the sin of man has affected all of creation. (Romans 8:22-23)
-- I believe that the penalty for man's sin is: physical death, spiritual death, and eternal
    death. (Genesis 2:17; 3:19; 5:5; Romans 5:12-17; 6:23; Ephesians 2:1,5; Revelation
    20:10-15)

Salvation
-- I believe salvation was made possible by Christ's sacrifice on the cross and the shedding
    of His blood to cover or wash away our sin. (Hebrews 9:13, 14,22, 25-28; Romans 4:7;
    Revelation 1:5)
-- I believe that man is unable to save himself. (Romans 3:20; Galatians 2:16)
-- I believe that salvation is provided by the grace of God. (Ephesians 2:8; Romans 5:8;
    Titus 2:11)
-- I believe salvation is given by God when a person truly believes on the Lord Jesus Christ
and the sacrifice He made on man's behalf and repents of his sin.(Acts 16:31; Romans
    10:10-13)
-- I believe that man has freedom to choose, and that God does not refuse salvation to any
who come to him. (Romans 10:9-10, 13; Revelation 22:17)
-- I believe that all who are saved by God are eternally secure in Him. (Jude 24; Hebrews
    7:25; John 3:16, 18; 10:28-30)

The Church
-- I believe that the New Testament church is an organized, autonomous assembly of
Baptized (immersed) believers, having New Testament offices, practicing New
Testament ordinances. And is actively carrying out the Great Commission.
-- I believe the New Testament church is the only institution which God has chosen to
work through. (Matthew 18:15-20; Acts 2:42,47)
-- I believe that Christ is the head of the church. (Ephesians 1:22-23; 4:15; 5:2)
-- I believe that the Bible is the only authority of the church. (II Timothy 3:14-17)
-- I believe that the church has two offices: that of pastor and deacon. (I Timothy 3)
-- I believe that a New Testament church has two ordinances: Baptism and the Lord's
    Supper.
-- I believe that Baptism is a picture of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus
        Christ. (Romans 6:4)
-- I believe that true Baptism is by total immersion only. (Matthew 3:16; John 3:23)
-- I believe that only born again believers should be baptized. Acts 8:36-38)
-- I believe that the Lord's Supper is a memorial of the broken body and shed blood
of Jesus on the cross. (Luke 22:19-20)
-- I believe the Lord's Supper is only for those who are saved and baptized and in a
right relationship with God. (I Corinthians 11:27-31)
-- I believe that the ordinances are acts of obedience of the believer (after salvation)
and are not a means of salvation. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
-- I believe that the New Testament church is to be independent and autonomous. (Acts
    6:1-6; Matthew 18:15-17; I Corinthians 6:1-5)

Satan
-- I believe in the reality of Satan as a distinct personality. (Job 1:6-12; 2:1-7)
-- I believe that he was perfectly created and fell from his exalted state through pride which
prompted his rebellion against God. (Isaiah 14:12-14; I Timothy 3:6)
-- I believe that he is the arch enemy of God and that he opposes God in all things.
(Matthew 4:1-11; II Corinthians 11:13-15; II Corinthians 4:3-4)
-- I believe that he is the adversary of believers and the accuser of the brethren. (I Peter
    5:8; Revelation 12:10-11)

Last Things
-- I believe the chronological order of the last things will be as follows:
-- I believe in the imminent return of Christ in the air to rapture the saints. (I
       Corinthians 15:51-54; Titus 2:13)
-- I believe that following the rapture there will be seven years of world-wide
tribulation on earth during which God will pour out His wrath.
-- I believe that the tribulation will be terminated by the physical return of Christ to
the earth when He defeats the armies of the world at Armageddon. (Zechariah
        14:3, 4; Revelation 16:16; 19:11-21)
-- I believe at this time that Satan will be bound and cast into the bottomless pit for
       1000 years. (Revelation 20:1-3)
-- I believe that God will set up his kingdom literally. Jesus Christ will rule and
reign as King with His saints for 1000 years. This will be a time of great
blessing. (Daniel 2:44; Luke 21:31; Zechariah 14:9; Isaiah 11:32; Revelation
        5:10)
-- I believe that at the end of the millennial kingdom that Satan will be loosed and
will deceive the nations. This final rebellion will end as Christ destroys those
who make war against Him, and casts Satan into the Lake of Fire. ( Revelation
        20:3-10)
-- I believe that the present earth and heaven will be destroyed, and a new Heaven
and Earth created. (II Peter 3:7-13; Revelation 21:1-5)
-- I believe that the eternal state of the lost will be the Lake of Fire, which will last forever
as place of torment and punishment. (Revelation 14:11; 20:10-15; II Peter 3:7)
-- I believe that the eternal state of the redeemed will be the new Heaven and Earth where
they will live in the presence of God forever. (Revelation 21:27; 22:1-5)

Separation
-- I believe that the Bible commands both personal and ecclesiastical separation. (II
    Corinthians 6:11-7:1)
-- Personal: separation from ungodly and worldly practices. (II Corinthians 6:14-
       18; Ephesians 5:11; I john 2:15; Romans 12:2; James 4:4)
-- Ecclesiastical: separation from those brethren or individuals or churches who
walk not after the teachings of scripture. (II Thessalonians 3:6)
-- I believe that the church should not support, cooperate with, finance, sit
on councils with, work with, participate with, allow to speak, or allow to
teach, any saved or unsaved person or persons who are members of
liberal or modernistic churches, neo-orthodox churches, cults, Roman
Catholic churches, Holiness churches, or non-fundamental local councils
of churches ect. (II Peter 2:1-3:3; I John 4:1-6; II John 7-11; Romans
            16:17; Ephesians 5:11)
-- It is not my intention to offend anyone; however, I will preach the whole
counsel of God, and I will not avoid any biblical doctrine. (II Timothy
            2:24-26; II Timothy 3:16-17; II Timothy 4:1-4; Titus 2:1,7-8,15)
-- I reject the philosophy that we need to reach the world through its sound
of music, art form, magazine format, language, appearance, personalities,
            etc. (I John 2:15-17; Romans 12:2; James 4:4; Romans 3:8; I Corinthians
            1:18-25)
-- I accept the following Scriptures as our authority for a Godly attitude toward
heresy and/or disobedience to the Word of God.
        -- Try them. (I John 4:1)
        -- Mark them. (Romans 16:17)
        -- Rebuke them. (Titus 1:13)
-- Have no fellowship. (Ephesians 5:11)
        -- Withdraw thyself.(II Tessalonians 3:6)
-- Receive them not. (II John 10,11)
-- Have no company with them. (II Thessalonians 3:14)
        -- Reject them. (Titus 3:10)
-- Be ye separate. II Corinthians 6:17

My philosophy on music
1. The emphasis must be on the words not the music.
2. It must be doctrinally sound.
3. It must be distinctly Christian; that is, when someone walks by and hears the music but not the words
the music must be God-honoring.
4. Both the music and the song must elevate your heart and mind to God.
I realize that this is not all encompassing; however, I have little background in understanding music,
but these principles will provide godly, easily understood guidelines.
